Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is about to part ways with his wife

We are about to witness the most expensive divorce to date.

Until recently, businessman Bernie Ecclestone and media mogul Rupert Murdoch topped the list of priciest divorces in history according to Family Lawyers Perth. Things are about to change, as the owner of Chelsea football club, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is about to part ways with his wife, Dasha Zhukova.
Abramovich, who turned 50 last year, met 36 year old Dasha back in 2005. They got married in 2008, but kept their marriage a secret. However, in 2014, a Wall Street Journal article revealed they were married, Together, they are parents to two childrem. Their first child, son Aaron Alexander was born in 2009, and Leah Lou, their daughter, in 2013.

Reportedly, Roman Abramovich’s net worth is approximately $10.5 billion. He is already divorced, and his divorce from Irina Vyacheslavovna Malandina cost $255 million. At the time, in 2007, it was officialy fourth on the most expensive divorces list.

However, with Dasha Zhukova, the story is a bit different. She is already wealthy, as her father Alexander Zhukov is a well known oil mogul. It’s unknown if they signed a prenup or not. In case they didn’t, their divorce could easily turn out to be the most expensive in histoty.

The couple released a statement regarding their divorce. For Page Six, they said how they’ve decided to separate after 10 years of marriage, adding the decision itself was quite difficult.

Also, they stated that they will not only remain close friends and parents, but also that they will continue to be partners in mutual projects.

Such things can’t be avoided as they co-founded a cultural centre in Saint Petersburg along with the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Russia’s capital, Moscow. Their main focus however appears to be on cooperatively raising their two children.

Together, this wealthy couple owns homes all over the world: London, France, the Carribean, Moscow and Colorado. On top of that. they’re in possession of multiple yachts.

The Sun Online interviewed David Leadercramer, who is a partner at DMH Stallard, which is a prominent London law firm. He said that unless they’ve agreed differently, their divorce will surely take place in Russia.

Regarding London, Leadercramer stated how it’s the world capital of divorces, and that women almost always want to get divorced there in order to get a large amount of wealth.
The fact that they’ve been married for 10 years and have two children together would go to Zhukova’s favour, so in England, she’d get a big sum of money.

Leadercramer concluded by saying that he doesn’t know exactly if the divorce is going to be worth hunreds of millions, but he’s certain it’s going to be a lot.
